Getting to know – Lavina Tauro
Using 3 words, how would you describe yourself?
Ambitious, Straight forward and Open minded.
What career background do you have?
I have always worked in the media industry. I started with quality checking dubbed episodes of Disney shows to today, I am the country manager for a video on demand service called Viu in Myanmar.
If you could quit your job and live anywhere in the world where would you go and why?
I would love to live in London. I like the vibe of the place, it’s a good mix of busy and laid back. I am a city girl and while the country side is nice to visit occasionally, I need the pace around me.
Do you believe in fate? Have you ever experienced it?
Yes I believe in fate. I believe in the universe and that it has your back. I have experienced it so many times in my life. Moving to Hong Kong with my job is a perfect example of this. My husband decided to apply for an internal transfer when we were in India. We realized I probably needed to quit as Hong Kong isn’t such a strong market for media professionals as I was working with a start up from the Silicon Valley. The month he applied for the role in Hong Kong, my company was acquired by PCCW J and the rest is history.
For 2018, what do you want to accomplish? Personal, health and professional.
I turn 40 this year and I have a very clear focus where health is concerned, I want to bring my fat % down to the range of 25 to 27%. I am taking steps in that direction. Professionally I want Viu Myanmar to achieve its targets in all aspects and be a profitable business in 12 months. Personally, now that is the toughest one I think, it is to be more kind. I actively practice when there is an opportunity to be kind and right be both and if I have to chose one then be kind.
Have you ever volunteered for a charity and if so which one? Tell me more….
No I haven’t volunteered for a charity. It is on my to do list.
What do you feel is your best asset?
I think a solutions driven approach rooted in conscience. I stand by my beliefs and don’t compromise.
What brought you to Pherform?
I joined Bikini Fit when I moved to Hong Kong and when that shut down I moved to Pherform. What keeps me at Pherform are the coaches, the community, the friends I have made and the routine which I thoroughly enjoy doing every day.
What inspires you? What gets you up in the morning?
I want to be able to influence change and I am not there yet, that is what keeps me going every morning. I am inspired by people who are achievers in their own fields and yet humble, there is no much to learn from them.
